Peek at the Docket
Peek at the Docket hands the Mayor a secret look at the next three laws waiting in the draw pile. No one else sees them, and the Mayor can describe that peek honestly or invent it whole. It's Service Rat's version of the Secret Hitler power called Policy Peek.
What it does
When the prerogative triggers, the app privately shows the Mayor the top three laws in the order they'll be drawn next Round. That's it: no card is removed, shredded, or reordered. The power is pure information, and information that only the Mayor holds. They can report it accurately to steer the table, shade it, or fabricate a reading entirely.
When it unlocks
Peek at the Docket is the small-game prerogative. It appears only in 5–6 player games, and only at the 3rd Rat Law. In 7–10 player games the third Rat Law slot is occupied by Snap Election instead, so the peek never shows up at larger tables.
This makes it a tightly scoped tool. By the third Rat Law in a five- or six-player game the board is already tense, with three of the six Rat Law slots filled, so a credible peek can swing the very next vote.
Strategy
As a Cat Mayor
Tell the truth, then act on it. If you see "Rat Law, Rat Law, Cat Law" coming, warn the table that the next council will be drawing from a poisoned well, and consider deliberately failing the next nomination to burn through bad cards, or pushing a trusted Ratcatcher who'll sign the lone Cat Law if it surfaces. A truthful peek is most powerful when your subsequent moves visibly match what you claimed to see.
As a Sellout or Rat Mayor
The peek is a free, unverifiable claim. See three Rat Law cards and announce "all clear ahead" to lull the Cats into approving the next council. Or claim a dangerous draw to justify torpedoing a Cat-friendly nomination. Since no one can check what you saw, the only check on your lie is consistency: if you "peek clean" and then a Rat Law lands next Round, sharp Cats will remember.
The peek reveals order, not control. You learn what's coming but can't change it, so the value is entirely in how you talk about it and how you set up the next vote.
